Green Ambassador (GA) Certificate

The “Take-Make-Waste” economy is at a tipping point. We need to counter irresponsible practices and a culture of convenience that is depleting resources faster than they are replenished and endangering all species through human created emissions and pollution. We need ambassadors that drive net zero thinking and stewardship to interact with the planet responsibly.

Are you passionate about environmental sustainability? Do you want to understand the issues being faced, to make a meaningful impact in your community? Sustainability is not a destination, but a process of reflecting on actions and adapting strategies as needed.

We have exciting news about a Green Ambassador Certificate program created by One Earth One Chance, in partnership with the University of Texas, Dallas, JSOM, and several DFW cities. This will address the need for environmental sustainability education in the community and raise awareness about sustainable choices that make a difference, as an individual or organization.

Each module covers challenges, solutions, regulations, standards, technology innovations, success stories, actions checklist, blogs, resource libraries and interactive exercises. Resources include businesses (e.g. farm to table restaurants, refilleries), products (e.g. reusable grocery bags and produce bags) and services (e.g. eco dry cleaning, recycling and composting center) recommendations to help you in your journey to sustainability. Completion of the quizzes will yield a certificate available for display in social media.

  • Register for the workshops on the second Saturday of each month, 10:30 am - 11:30 am. The 12 modules will be taught in-person by experts from various sectors and will also be available from an online learning platform.

  • Optionally, join a litter cleanup, prior to each workshop, from 8:30 am - 9:30 am, at a park close by. Help us protect our parks and wildlife, keep our waterways clean, learn environmental responsibility, and build a healthier community.

  • Any individual or organization (e.g. schools/colleges, cities, nonprofits, corporations) can compete for annual awards based on the number of events and number of certificates completed and receive service hours for their time.

  • The program is open to ages 11+; children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • While in-person is preferred, if you miss a class, you can watch the recording online.
